I'm working on better coloring. I decided to do a speedpaint last night for fun, but then I started liking it and it became a little more refined that that (though it still didn't take too long). I'm pretty happy with what came out, but I need to practice more. I was mainly trying to nail the lighting and the way the light behaves, especially shining through the wing. Hope it looks all right.

This is a wyvern, about 2 or 3 hours in PS.

Full view if you have time please

This is beautiful! I love the translusent wings particularly his left, very well done! The lighting reminds me of Michael Whelan's Dragon Riders of Pern art, my favortie books of all time.

I really like his lack of eyes.

And I think maybe the wing on the left side of the picture is a bit too small...but it might just be a me thing. :O_o:

No, I think you're right. I was thinking that as I was painting it, too. I may go back and fix it sometime if the mood strikes me, but since it was mostly an exercise in color it's going to be a yellow alert for now. :) Thanks for pointing it out!

It reminds me so much of something and I cn't say what. The mouth and head are familiar, in a tip of the tongue way. I think it's incredible that you managed to get so much expression into something with no visible eyes.

I am in awe of those who can cg. It has such a smooth, yet undeniably painted look to it. The colouring is incredible, the yellow gleam of sunlight looks warm like the earliest moments of dawn.

It's really lovely and well worth the full view.

Thanks so much for the in-depth comment! I'm so glad that you thought it had expression in spite of not having eyes. It's reassuring to know that I at least accomplished what I set out to do, which was paint the color and lighting right, and even better to know that it had a little more expression and depth than that. Thank you. ^^
