The Return of Spacedog by Merystic The Return of Spacedog by Merystic
Yeah, yeah, I'll stop with the furry art after this...

Anyway, when I was approximately 4 years old I made up this character named Spacedog, an intrepid intergalactic canine explorer. He was quite badly drawn. I figured, being one of my earliest creative memories, I'd pay him (as well as his trusty crewmen Cosmo Cockatoo and Admiral Foxx) homage with a decent up-to-date pic. It's been sitting in my sketchbook so I finally decided to color it.

May memories like this live forever...

Ooooh, nice. I just love those ears of his. So big and floppy. Makes me think of Road Rovers meats Star Fox meat MIB *sigh* I'm just disapointed that it isn't an actual comic...

I wish it was a real comic too.

Nice. I did something like this once (except it was more of a story than drawing....actually, it was just a story), involving who, I at my 5-year-old naivetie (.....did I get that right?), named a criminal "Dagger Dog" and some other junk like that. My parents loved it. Why? I dunno.

It's nice to people paying tribute to their earlier influences and creations. REMEMBER YOUR ROOTS MY FRIENDS. (speaking of which, I should pay tribute to some of my earlier stuff, too....ugh -_-;;)

Nice. Like it.

Yeah...although I'm not sure I miss it all so much! It was sort of a weird idea... ah well, I can always pay a little tribute to it, eh? I can always illustrate it... *idea*

Anyway, I really like this. It's all...comic-booky. You could probably do more with this, like make an actual comic of it, and it'd probably turn out really well.

Dagger Dog...I like that! For some reason I love hearing about people's old stories, etc., especially from when they were very young. Something about childish imagination often produces very wonderful ideas and stories. You should revisit your earlier stuff, I'm sure it misses you. ^^

Freakin Sweet! I remeber you showing me this one, awww how memories are good. The sketch was great but this, this freaken great! It does look like you got if off a comic book rack, and to me this reminds me of Capt. Bucky O'Hair, Which was the coolest cartoon back in the day next to Transformers.Awww memories.....may they never be taken away.

Thanks, man...it's great to just revert back to old times on occasion. Glad you liked it--I think the colored version is better than the sketch anyhoo!

very cool! I like the composition, it's like you've just pulled it out of a shelf of a comicbookstore.
